PhotonDelta Visiting Programme & Asia Photonics Expo Singapore

02.02 - 06.02.2026

PhotonDelta, in close collaboration with the Netherlands Innovation Network and the Netherlands Embassy in Singapore, is organising a visiting programme to Singapore from Monday, 2 February to Friday, 6 February 2026.

This programme is designed for companies and organisations from the Dutch photonics ecosystem that are interested in international collaboration, market exploration, and R&D partnerships in Asia, with a strong focus on integrated photonics and semiconductor technologies.

The visit coincides with the Asia Photonics Expo (APE 2026) and includes participation in the conference, speaking opportunities, company visits, networking events, and targeted matchmaking (upon request).

Why Join This Mission?

Singapore and the Netherlands have significantly strengthened their collaboration in photonics over the past few years. Recent exchange missions and industry visits have confirmed strong mutual interest, while also highlighting complementary strengths between the two ecosystems.

Singapore is positioning itself as a global hub for advanced photonics and heterogeneous integration, supported by large-scale public investment, world-class research institutes, and strong links to industry. For Dutch companies, this mission offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Explore business and R&D opportunities in Asia
  • Connect with leading Singaporean research institutes and industry players
  • Gain insights into Singapore’s photonics and semiconductor strategy
  • Build partnerships around silicon photonics, advanced packaging, flat optics, GaN, and heterogeneous integration
  • Strengthen international visibility during Asia Photonics Expo 2026

What’s Included in the Programme?

Participants can expect a well-curated mix of content, connections, and visibility, including:

  • Participation in Asia Photonics Expo 2026
  • Attendance at key conferences and plenary sessions
  • Singapore–Netherlands R&D & Industry Connect session
  • Company visit and technical session with GlobalFoundries
  • Networking events and social dinners
  • Optional matchmaking meetings, supported by PhotonDelta and the Embassy
  • Support with introductions to relevant Singaporean organisations

Strategic Context

Singapore’s recently announced Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2030 Plan underlines the country’s ambition to lead in semiconductors and photonics. From April 2026, Singapore will invest S$37 billion over five years in R&D, with strong focus areas including:

  • Silicon photonics
  • Flat optics
  • Advanced packaging & heterogeneous integration
  • Gallium Nitride (GaN)

Singapore combines strong academic research (e.g. NTU, NUS) with applied, industry-driven programs at A*STAR and national translation centres, creating an ecosystem that is highly relevant for Dutch photonics companies looking to scale internationally.

Funding & Collaboration Opportunities

Singapore is an EUREKA associated country and participates in international funding schemes such as:

  • Xecs (Call 5) – deadline 22 January
  • Eurostars – Call opening 16 January, closing 19 March 2026
  • Singapore–Horizon Europe Complementary Fund (SG-HE)

These instruments create concrete opportunities for joint R&D projects between Singaporean and European partners.
