Laser World of Photonics 2025

Laser World of Photonics is the premier international trade fair (with accompanying congress) for lasers and photonics components, systems, and applications. In its 27th edition, it has “set standards in size, variety and relevance” since 1973. The event combines cutting-edge research and industrial innovation, bringing all the important players from application, research and technology together. Attendees can explore the entire photonics value chain – from laser sources and optical components to complete photonic systems – across industries like manufacturing, telecommunications, medical technology, measurement, and more.

Key Highlights

• Integrated Photonics Area: A new dedicated zone spotlighting photonic integrated circuits and chip-scale optics. This industry meeting place (organised with EPIC and PhotonDelta) targets applications in information/communications, sensors/IoT, automotive/aerospace, and medical diagnostics.
• World of Quantum Exhibition: Quantum technologies continue to take centre stage. A special World of Quantum platform (running concurrently since 2022) brings together pioneers in quantum computing, communication, sensing and imaging. Visitors can see how quantum computers promise exponential computing power and how quantum sensors aim for unprecedented precision.
• Co-location with automatica: Laser Photonics 2025 runs under the same roof and dates as automatica (June 24–27), the world’s leading trade fair for automation and robotics. This synergy reflects growing links between photonics and Industry 4.0: automation and robotics technologies complement laser and photonics innovations.
• Sustainability, Digitalisation & Young Talents: The fair emphasises green technology and workforce development. Forums and exhibits will spotlight energy-efficient lasers, sustainable photonics applications, and initiatives to attract and train the next generation of talent.
• Keynotes & Awards: The World of Photonics Congress (22–27 June) will feature plenary talks by world-renowned scientists, including Nobel laureates Anne L’Huillier and Ferenc Krausz, along with panel discussions and award ceremonies. Integrated Photonics Applications Stage | 24 – 27 June

Join us at the Integrated Photonics Applications Stage during Laser World of Photonics in Munich, co-organised by PhotonDelta, EPIC, and ficonTEC. This dedicated programme features a series of fast-paced, insightful pitch sessions designed to highlight the latest developments in integrated photonics.

Industry leaders, innovators, and key stakeholders will present practical applications, share emerging insights, and address shared challenges across technology-driven sectors. The programme is structured across four focused sessions, taking place in Hall A2 at the Integrated Photonics Area.

Attendance is free with a valid Laser World of Photonics 2025 Visitor Pass.

Networking Event @ Integrated Photonics Area | 25 June | 16:00-17:00

An invitation-only networking event co-organised and co-funded by EPIC, Photonics21, ficonTEC, and PhotonDelta. Access is granted with a wristband, which you will receive directly from one of the organisers.

Networking Lunch @ NL Pavilion | 26 June | 12:00-13:00

Hosted at the NL Pavilion, this networking lunch is co-organised and co-funded by the NL Consulate, QuantumDelta, and the NL Pavilion. Attendance is by invitation only, and wristbands will be distributed in advance by the organisers.

• Global Industry Presence: This year’s event is similarly international: roughly two-thirds of exhibitors come from outside Germany. Major participating nations (beyond Germany) include the UK, France, Italy, the USA, Japan, China, Korea, and others.
• Key Sectors: Exhibitors range from established laser and optics firms to startups in photonic devices. Visitors will find leading suppliers of lasers and photonics systems for industrial manufacturing, data and communication, and biophotonics. Other prominent areas include optoelectronics, lighting, energy technology, sensor and measurement technology, and imaging solutions.
• Exhibition Areas: The show is organised into 11 thematic areas covering the entire photonics spectrum. Laser World of Photonics features both a scientific congress (World of Photonics Congress) and industry-oriented forums:

• World of Photonics Congress (22-27 June): Five parallel scientific conferences cover the full range of photonics research, from fundamental laser physics and optics to applied topics in medicine and quantum technologies. All aspects of photonics research are presented, discussed and published, making it one of the world’s top optical science meetings. Expect plenary lectures, invited talks and poster sessions by leading researchers (including Nobel laureates) and around 4,000 fellows.
• Photonics Forums (Trade Fair programme): Four practice-oriented panel tracks address the latest industrial applications of photonics:
  • Biophotonics & Medical Engineering (medical lasers, imaging for healthcare)
  • Integrated Photonics Applications (chip-based photonic circuits and devices)
  • Laser Materials Processing (manufacturing, micromachining, additive manufacturing)

    Each forum offers application panels where industry experts discuss trends and case studies, and 20-minute exhibitor presentations of new products.
