AgriFood

Scope:

The projects aim to develop sensor systems for real-time control of agricultural processes, in particular when it comes to health and food quality monitoring of crops and fruit, gas sensing and air quality.

Main result achieved:

OnePlanet has established an application and sensor specifications and determined the feasibility of using the photonic sensor systems to measure with sufficient sensitivity, cost-efficiency. This has led to the production of initial prototypes and demonstrations, in particular, a first demonstration of sap flow measurements in tomato plants using laser
speckle imaging, a laser-interferometric spectroscopy setup to determine the ripeness of fruit, a benchmark setup to visualise orchards and a study of temperature-dependent beam misalignment in a dairy farm.
